Prevent A Litter Society: Our Mission, Our Passion
Kitty Cat PALS — Now Operating as North Island Humane Society KCP
Since 2007, our organization has been built on compassion, advocacy, and a deep commitment to helping animals in need. What began as Kitty Cat Prevent A Litter Society (KCP) with a strong focus on feline welfare has grown into something far greater — a community-driven organization dedicated to supporting animals of all kinds across our region.
While KCP remains at the heart of who we are, our growth and expanding programs led us to evolve into North Island Humane Society KCP, a name that better reflects the wide-reaching impact of the work we do today.
Over the years, we have rescued and cared for thousands of cats, kittens, puppies, dogs, and other vulnerable animals. From emergency medical care and foster programs to adoptions, socialization, education, outreach, and population control initiatives, our mission continues to grow alongside the needs of our community.
One of the foundations of our organization remains our commitment to preventing unwanted litters through responsible rescue practices, Trap-Neuter-Rehome (TNR) efforts, public education, and accessible support programs. These initiatives continue to play a vital role in reducing suffering and improving animal welfare throughout the Comox Valley and beyond.
Our work is entirely community-powered and made possible through the support of donors, volunteers, foster families, and advocates who believe in creating a better future for animals. Programs such as our Foster Home Program, Barn Cat Re-homing Program, Rescue Reading Buddies, surrender support services, medical assistance initiatives, transport partnerships, and specialized neonatal care are just a few examples of how we continue to evolve and expand our impact.
As a registered charity, our dedication to both animals and the people who care about them remains unwavering. Every life matters to us, and every program we build is rooted in compassion, education, and long-term change.
